Athletics - Overview

2021 Fall Season

The 2021 Fall Season is just around the corner. Sports that make up the Fall Season include B/G Cross Country, Football, Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, B/G Water Polo, Cheerleading, and Girls Golf. 

If you are interested in participating and/or trying out for any of those sports, the first day of try outs is Monday, Aug 9th (look below for tryout times, dates, and locations). Be sure to click on the "Athletic Participation Forms", located to the left, all forms must be filled in and submitted to the Athletic Director prior to athlete's participation.

Athletes can turn in their completed forms to the Athletic Director in the main gym lobby on the following dates and times: Tues 7/27, Wed 7/28, Thurs 7/29, Tues 8/3, Wed 8/4, and Thurs 8/5 from 1-3pm.


Cross Country: 8/9-8/12 @ 3:30p @ the outdoor basketball courts [by the pool]; questions contact Coach Vose,

Football:  All students wanting to play are welcome - PRACTICE TIMES, Monday - Thursdays, 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Girls Golf: TBA

Girls Tennis: 8/9 @ 4-6pm @ WHS Tennis Courts

Girls Volleyball: 8/9-8/11 @ 4:30-7pm in the Main Gym. 1st day (8/9) athletes are to meet in Room H276 @ 4:30 for a quick meeting, other days report directly to the gym. Questions contact Coach Oliphant,

2021 Summer Open Gym/Open Fields

Interested in getting back into shape open gyms and open fields are currently being held at WHS all are welcome. Find sports, times, and locations below. All participants must wear a mask while on FUDS campuses and continue to social distance.

Boys Basketball: Mon & Wed, Main Gym, 5:30-7:30pm.

Girls Basketball: Tues, 5-7p; Wed, 5:30-7:30p; Thurs, 5-7p; Sat, 8-10a; Main Gym

Girls Volleyball: Tues, Main Gym, 8-10a & Thurs, Main Gym, 7-9pm

Badminton: Mon, Main Gym, 3-5pm & Fri, Main Gym, 5-7p

College Recruitment Information

Fremont Unified School District is proud to announce that we will host NFL veteran Julian Jenkins from Next College Student Athlete (NCSA) for his presentation: “College Recruiting Simplified.” The event is on Monday, October 2nd at 6:30pm in the Valhalla Theater at Irvington High School. The seminar is free to all students and their families. Click here for flyer

Jenkins will guide parents and student-athletes through the importance of establishing athletic and academic goals, setting realistic expectations and seeking opportunities at all college and division levels.

Topics covered include:

  • The benefits of playing college sports
  • Reading college coach communications between the lines
  • When the recruiting process starts
  • How to get discovered
  • How coaches evaluate prospects
  • How to set realistic expectations
  • High school and club coaches’ roles

Guy Emanuele Sports Fund

The Guy Emanuele Sports Fund provides grants/scholarships to FUSD high school students who wish to participate in after-school sports but need help to offset some of the costs required for equipment and uniforms.  A student may receive more than one GESF grant if he/she is participating different sports seasonally.  Applications for Fall sports is September 30th.  Visit the Fremont Education Foundation website and click on the Guy Emanuele Sports Fund page for more scholarship information.
