The WHS Counseling Department's effort to support parents of teens with both information and resources:

Fremont Youth and Family ServicesYFS offers a number of counseling services for Fremont families, including family counseling, crisis intervention, truancy intervention and group/individual counseling for teens. Fees are based on ability to pay.

Parent Project:  This class offers both education and support to parents who are struggling with their teenagers. Parents who have taken this course have had a positive experience and good results with an improved relationship with their teen and a brighter outlook for their family. Scholarships are available.

Counseling Services covered by Insurance Coverage: Insurance programs often include counseling benefits for family counseling and/or individual and group counseling for teens. Substance abuse counseling is often covered as well. Check with your policy to see what is covered and the counseling agencies that work with your particular insurance carrier.

Common Sense Media: Parents say their #1 health concern is overuse of media, even more than drinking or smoking. Visit this site if you are struggling with this issue with your teen.

Bullying and Cyberbullying: Find out what it is, how it works, know the law, prevention and take action. 

Self Injury: Upwards of 1/3 of teen girls and some boys as well engage in this unhealthy behavior that has its roots in a number of emotional problems. This website can be very helpful in finding information, support and resources.

Teen Stress: Help your student deal with the pressure they feel they are under to get good grades and manage their busy activity schedule to get into a first rate college.
